International Festival of the Sea

International Festival of the Sea

This CD was produced in 2002 for the second International Festival of the Sea. We have given it prominence in our catalogue once more not merely to emphasise the very high standard of these beautiful recordings but as a personal tribute to Lt Col Richard Waterer OBE MVO Hon DMus LRAM RM who most sadly passed away on 10th January 2006 at the young age of 56 whilst serving as the Commandant of Valley Forge Military Academy in USA, an appointment he had only recently taken up.

Friends of the Royal Marines Band Service will know all too acutely what a terrible shock this news has been coming as it does only shortly after Rick completed 8 years as a most distinguished Principal Director of Music (1994-2002).

We believe that these recordings were some of the finest Rick made. So hear again his stunning programme selection which features the Band of HM Royal Marines Plymouth under Rick's direction throughout, together with the vibrant compositions and arrangements of his Staff Arranger, WO2 Michael McDermott.
