Songs of the Sea

To mark the 175th anniversary of the RNLI saving lives at sea this outstanding collection of Charles Villiers Stanford's famous nautical songs, Songs of the Sea (Opus 91) and Songs of the Fleet (Opus 117) was recorded in 1999 by Royal Band with the internationally renowned baritone William Shimell and the Royal Marines School of Music Choir.
The CD is completed with an exciting new arrangement by Michael McDermott entitled The Seafarers, and Roger Barsotti's arrangement of Ireland's setting of John Masefield's poem Sea Fever ('I must go down to the seas again') movingly sung here by William Shimell. The tracks are:
